Is a Boater’s License the same as a Boater Safety Card?

  • Yes! They are the same thing. This is a one time online certification that never expires once complete. There are many different online courses you can take. Here at Boating Babes we recommend the Recademics course. You make take either the Nevada or California class depending on your personal residency.

Is a Boater’s License/Boater Safety Card required to take your course?

  • Yes. As of Jan 1st 2025 it is required that all individuals operating watercraft in any body of water in California hold a boater safety card. Despite Lake Tahoe being a bi-state lake, this law still applies to Lake Tahoe. Also it is mandatory for Boating Babes LLC’s insurance.

How long are lessons?

  • The original “On-Water Boat Safety and Handling course” is 4 hours long. Additional courses range anywhere from 3-2 hours. In order to book secondary courses, individuals must first complete the original on-water course as a prerequisite.

What time do lessons start?

  • Most lessons start in the morning at 8:00am, 8:30am, or 9:00am. Advanced On-Water courses and trailer maneuvering courses start at 1:00pm.

How many student drivers are in each lesson?

  • I can accommodate up to 2 student drivers per lesson. I cannot take observers. (If children need to be observers due to child care restrictions there is flexibility on this restriction, however, if possible I recommend child care so that students can be full present for their lesson).
